Built in 1899, this substantial Victorian House is a wonderful family home. Whilst undergoing an extensive refurbishment five years ago; rewiring, new gas central heating, installation of a combi boiler, complete redecoration etc etc, many wonderful period features were uncovered. In the two downstairs reception rooms the magnificent original slate fireplaces were ‘unboxed’, with cast iron and tile inserts and matching tiled hearths. These have been maintained by us and are in full working order, one example in constant use throughout the winter months. Upstairs a stunning wrought iron fireplace was uncovered in the master bedroom, again in full working order.

The property is set back from this quiet residential street, with a small front area bordered by a mature privet hedge. The porched entrance leads to the orginal heavy Victorian front door, which has been completely reglazed with a faithful copy of the original stained glass, and further restored with a period letter box and bell, c.1880, with reproduction bell pull. The door opens on to a wide hallway with doors off to two receptions and a cloakroom on the left and leading to a large kitchen breakfast room at the back of the property. A door from the kitchen leads to a private, pretty, mature garden. Upstairs are four bedrooms and a bathroom. The property also has an enormous loft space, which is currently half boarded and has huge potential for conversion into a further suite of rooms.

Situated between Walthamstow Village and Upper Walthamstow the position of the property is superb, communications to London are excellent. Round the corner an overhead train service takes you into London Liverpool Street in 19 minutes, a service which is regular and very reliable. A short walk through Walthamstow Village will take you to the Victoria line, if you prefer to travel by tube. The road is broad with never any problems for parking and the atmosphere very friendly. Shops to suit every need are within a minutes walk, and the restaurants and bars in the village provide a wonderful social backdrop. Walthamstow boasts the longest street market in Europe and work is underway for a the development of a huge Arts Center which includes a new theatre and library etc It is a wonderful place to live, with a short journey to central London, yet five minutes will take you into the beautiful Epping Forest and on into the stunning Essex countryside beyond.
